When I decided to start Bubbles, one of the things I knew from the beginning was that quality was one of the main aspects of the work. I wasn’t only thinking about the materials I was going to use, but also about making swimwear with care.
The first version of the “Summer Nights” model, made with some leftover fabric.
In this matter I also took some inspiration from the past, when things were made to last. Nowadays, my impression is that clothes especially are made to be worn a couple of times… if you are lucky. It’s true that that’s not always the case, but more often than not it is what happens. And I want to change that.
Pattern-making and cutting the fabric.
With all this fast-fashion and cheap brands, we tend to forget that behind the clothes we wear there used to be a story. On one side, a person who puts his or her time and energy into making something beautiful for someone to wear. And on the other, someone who dreamed about having that special piece of clothing and maybe made an extra effort to buy it. That’s the handmade value that I wanted my swimwear line to have.
Working with my helper
From the design process in which I think of the different body shapes and the way to accentuate the figure; the fabric choice where I try to make something different from the rest; to the construction of the bathing suit, in this whole process I’m always thinking of the woman that wants to feel and be unique.
